In this course, Logan Kilpelä guides you through the great foundational myths of classical antiquity: from the birth of the titans, the gods, and the human race itself. Every ancient author, and the majority of post-antiquity authors in any language until very recently, take for granted that we already know these myths well. In this Zoom class, you'll have the opportunity to finally study these characters and events, preparing you to engage with other ancient literature.
• be trained in the most important aspects of Ancient Greek pronunciation
• learn to read easy Ancient Greek sentences
• gain an appreciation of Greek myth and culture
• acquire core vocabulary and grammar
• practice speaking aloud in Ancient Greek with your instructor
Prerequisites: ability to read the Ancient Greek letters in an ancient pronunciation, experience reading elementary sentences, (such as one may attain through the first few lessons of an introductory reader or course).
